NOTES ON THE RACING (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, May 4. The big trotting meeting was concluded at Addington to-day after extending into the fourth week. Rain fell last night and there was more drizzle to-day, but in the main the conditions were fair, though dull, while the track was in good order. The racing was excellent. The grand final of the Interdominion Championship Handicap was a race worthy of the occasion, the field being in close order all the way, With a strong pace, while at the entrance to the straight it was hard to name the winner. Nervie's Last went away smartly from Blair Athol, while at the end of a furlong EvicUs, Pot Luck, Plutus and King's Play, with U Scott were just behind them. U Scott, who had begun slowly, moved up fast after three furlongs and a furlong further on headed Blair Athol, with Nervie's Last handy and the others in a bunch. There Was no change starting the last lap, U Scott thus gaining the lap prize of £IOO. U Scott led along the back, where Lucky Jack was last, with Supertax and Parisienne just in front of him. U Scott had a slight advantage at the entrance to the straight from Nervie's Last, Pot Luck, Parisienne and Blair Athol, with the others all handy. U Scott and Nervie's Last soon compounded, leaving Parisienne in charge, but Pot Luck swooped down to win handsomely by two lengths. Blair Athol finished fast, only a head behind Parisienne, who was stopping. Supertax was fourth and then came Evicus, with the others strung out King's Play, King's Warrior, Lucky Jack and Cloudy Range Were four who never looked dangerous. The result was to leave Parisienne the winner of the championship as the result of three wins and one second in the the series, while she also took the fastest time prize. The Townley bracket Parnsh GuideLady Somoma was first choice in the Otago Handicap, but both horses broke badly in the first three furlongs. Reward was soon in front, followed by Listowel, Indolent and Survivor, and Pilot Peter, after breaking at the start, joined Rewnrd after six furlongs. Survivor moved up along the back, taking second place three furlongs from home. He challenged his stablemate, Reward, getting up on the post for a head win. Indolent, trotting steadily, hung on for third. Listowel failed to stay. Guy Hugo, after going unsteadily, finished well for fourth.

There were three American horses in the Westland Handicap. Starwyn failed to begin right, but Bing Crosby and Fremont were well in the picture. Repeal set the pace from Sky Wink, Our Peggy, and Fremont, while with half the journey gone Bing Crosby and Red Ranger joined in. Red Ranger shot past Repeal when the straight was reached, but Bing Crosby wore him down, winning impressively by a neck. Fremont stayed on to be third, Repeal and Sky Wink following at intervals. Bing Crosby is at times handicapped by failing to begin properly but ho is a fine pacer. Ginger Jack won his third race of the meeting, all of them over two miles, when he took the Canterbury Handicap. Elvo led out from Navy Blue, Frisco Lady, and Iraq, and there was practically no change at a mile and a-quarler, when the others wers all handy. Ginger Jack then moved up. He took second place half a mile from home, and was in front two furlongs from home and won easily He is not done yet Frisco Lady stayed on, beating Ifnq, while Navy Blue and Southern Smile were only necks away. Captain Bolt, with his easy win in the Auckland Handicap, got his third slake at the meeting and his fifth for this season. The race was a repetition of the third day's result, with Wah nooka, in the same ownership, again in second place. Captain Bolt took the lead after halt a mile, and never afterwards looked like being beaten. The first and second horses are trained by C. S. Donald for the Wellington lady Mrs E. Eerryman Golden Eafile. Bittersweet. Great Admiral, and Discord were prominent with half a mile to go. but Wahnooka beat them all easily, having second place in safe keeping a long way from home Belle Gratlan soon took charge in the Wellington Handicap, and tried to win all the way. Lynwood. Golden Direct. Golden Cross. Harlequin, and Colonel Graltan followed tier for a mile and a-half, when Golden Direct

and Golden Cross dropped out. Cantata then moved up. She ran to the front when the straight was reached, and stalled oft" Colonel GrattSft by two lengths. Waipahi finished fast to cut Belle Grattan out of third money, Harlequin being next. This was Cantata's second win at the meeting, and she is on the way to much better class. The meeting was brought to an end with two consolation races for horses who took part in the championship series, but did not get into the Grand Final. In the first, Grand Mogul rushed to the front after three furlongs, but then was headed by Rocks Ahead and Glenrossie. There was not much change to the straight, where Glenrossie ran to the front, winning with ridiculous ease. He was always pacing in good style. The veteran Roi l'Or. probably having his last race, was fourth, just in front of the Australian Joy's John. While doing his preliminary, Big Author became lame, and permission was given to scratch him. the investments being returned. The Second Consolation Race gave the crowd a thrill when Indianapolis, the hero of three Trotting Cups, got up on the post to snatch a narrow victory. Our Walla set the pace from Frisco Boy, Double Great, Reporter, and Graham Direct. Frisco Boy broke, interfering with Lady Childwood, leaving Our Walla and Reporter to lead Double Great and Graham Direct. Reporter led to the straight, but Indianapolis came home with a brilliant run, Winning in the last stride. The hoisting of the number was the signal for a popular ovation.
