Mr Peter McSkimming was a passenger for Christchurch by the through express yesterday.
Mr R. Throp returned from the north by the express yesterday afternoon.
Mr Stewart Pitt, of Wellington, passed through Dunedin by the express yesterday afternoon on his way to Invercargill. Captain A P. McCormack, N.Z.S.C, left for Oamaru yesterday morning to inspect the St. Kevin's College cadets during the carrying out of the College Corps' annual barracks. Major A. Bongard, M.C., N.Z.S.C., travelled by the second express on Tuesday to Oamaru on Defence Department inspection, and returned to Dunedin by the through express yesterday.
Mr D W Breen. who has been transferred from Macduffs (Wellington) to the Dunedin branch, arrived from, the north by the second express last night.
Mr A A. Paape has received advice of the death of Mr Ingvald Strom, who was in Dunedin as a member ol the Ellsworth Antarctic Expedition. Mr D. C. Cameron went to Invercargill yesterday to attend the funeral of Mr Harold Raines, a relative, who was killed in a motor accident at Edendale.
Advice has been received that Mr A. E. Colin Bell, on the completion of his training on the Worcester and the Durham, passed his nautical examination. He will arrive in New Zealand early in June as fourth officer of the Turakina.
Mr P. Nomura, tihe newly-appointed representative for Osaka Syosen Kaisya in Australia and New Zealand, arrived at Dunedin by the Brisbane Maru yesterday. Mr Nomura is visiting New Zealand to make himself acquainted with local conditions, as well as to meet the various New Zealand agents and those connected with the working of the vessels in the Dominion.
The local members of the party who are to make a trip to Britain under the managership of Mr T. Ritchie went north by the through express yesterday. The party, which will number 31 in all, will join the Awatea at Wellington for Sydney, and then board the Strathallan.
Dr F. H. Spencer, former inspector of schools for the London County Council, arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa from Sydney on Monday.' While in the Dominion, Dr Spencer will visit the main technical education centres for the purpose of making a report to education authorities in England. He has already visited South Africa and Australia. The Union Airways liner Karoro left the Taieri airport at 8.15 yesterday morning for Christchurch, Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Messrs J. Spence Nichol, J. A. Smaill, J. Richardson, D. G. Hollebone, and Mrs J. Graham for Christchurch and Mr P. A. Matheson for Palmerston North. The south-bound liner Kotuku arrived at 2.45 p.m. with Mr B. H. Buddon from Palmerston North and Messrs L. Arlow, E. C. Govan, and J. Allan from Christchurch.
