MEETING OF RATEPAYERS y The annual meeting of the NorthEast Harbour Ratepayers and Householders’ Association was. held in the Macandrew Bay Hall on Monday. Moving the adoption of the annual report and statement of accounts, the chairman (Mr James Macilree) said that he had, while in Wellington, with the approval of the committee, interviewed the Commissioner of Transport, in connection with the bus service and fares. The matter had later been referred to the Dunedin Metropolitan Licensing Authority and a deputation from the committee had submitted its representations ' The conclusions decided upon by the authorities had been disappointing, the only tangible result being a reduction in first-year apprentice tickets from 6s to 4s weekly. During the year, Mr Macilree continued, a deputation had waited on the Peninsula County Council in regard to the question of public conveniences and drainage, and the council had provided half the cost of the former Recently the committee had concluded arrangements to lease the hall for the screening of pictures and a legal agreement has been entered into for a period of three year? with the right of renewal. The secretary (Mr W. Brookman) intimated that he was not seeking re-election. , Mr J L. Braithwaite was nominated and was unanimously elected secretary for the ensuing 12 months. The election of the committee followed and there being more than the requisite number (eight) nominated, a ballot was taken resulting in the following being elected:—Messrs James Macilree (chairman), S. F. Grigg (treasurer), H. A Foote, J. H. Pledger, J. Macandrew, J. W. Grimes. G W. Bewley and A D. Moller.
