OFFICIAL FORECAST STILL FAIR TO FINE The following is the official weather forecast: — An anti-cyclone is now centred between the South Island and Chatham Islands, but a shallow depression is centred just north of Cape Maria Van Diemen and gradually deepening. Pressure is low also over South-east-ern Australia. Indications are for: — Winds. —South-east to north-east from Nelson and Marlborough northwards, and north-east to north thence southwards; strong in parts of the Auckland Province, and elsewhere light to moderate, but freshening. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Rough north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Eastern Tasman Sea; East to north winds, strong in the northern portion, with rough seas, and light to moderate but freshening in the southern portion, with slight to moderate but rising seas.

Weather. —Fair to fine in Westland, Otago and Southland; elsewhere cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy, with rain at times; heavy falls probable in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Provinces, with flooding in places; temperatures cool to moderate. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The weather yesterday was fine and sunny, with a fresh to strong northeast wind. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 58 degrees. IN NORTHERN CENTRES (Special to Daily Times). AUCKLAND. May 3. Light rain fell during most of the day, with occasional fine spells, and there was a moderate east wind. The maximum temperature > was 74 degrees. The barometer was high, but falling, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.05 inches. WELLINGTON, May 3. The weather to-day was cloudy to overcast, and at times threatening, with-a cool south-easterly breeze. The minimum temperature last night was 47.1 degrees, and the maximum to-day 59.7 degrees. At 3.30 in the afternoon the barometer reading was 30.254 inches CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. The weather was fine and for the most part sunny to-day, with a fresh north-east breeze.
