Y.M.C.A. BOYS' DIVISION
OPENING OF SEASON Attention is drawn to the advertisement concerning the details of the schedule of classes for the new season; of the Y.M.C.A., Boys Division. The games room provided fbf thVb6ys is second to none in New • Zealand, • and is splendidly equipped with all manner of table games. The reading room and library haVe the type of books and magazines that appeal to all boys The Lunch Club group have the Use of a room in which all have their lupch and a hot cup of'cocoa with their dinner. The hobbies class is held every Saturday morning, when such hobbies as woodwork, canework/leather work, stamps and drawing are taught. •Membership is open to all boys, between the ages of 10 and 17 years. The fee "has been made low enough to" be within the reach of every boy, and is really just a nominal charge. Primary boys from the south end and eastern schools meet together one night a week as a club. ; Boys from the north end and intermediate meet another nightj while boys, from all the hill and western schools meet a third night. Secondary schoolboys combine on a Friday night and have the night among themselves; while employed boys have Saturday night on their own. Games, social events, competitions and • tournaments all go to make up the varied and intensive programme carried out. . The: division is controlled %y Mr G. R. Pitkethley, who is assisted by a band of young men as leaders, all of whom endeavour to • study the boys' interests and help them towards a fuller and more robust manhood. All activities are planned so as to apneal to boys and bring out the best in them. The oro J gramme combines the physical, mental; social, and spiritual, in such proportions that the ultimate aim is to turn the boys into real men of good Christian character.
