MR HOLLAND’S MEETING
ro THE EDITOR
Sir, —Your report of Mr Holland's meeting at the Concert Chamber does not do justice either to Mr Holland or to his opponents. Having a nodding acquaintance with Mr Holland. I went to the hall intending to stay for a short time, simply to see how Mr Holland shaped. A large number of people in the audience were noisy, but it is, I think, far from the truth to describe it as an organised attempt to prevent Mr,Holland from speaking. Sitting, as I was. near the back, I heard, I think, nearly everything that Mr Holland said, and enjoyed the meeting so much that I stayed until the finish. The police controlled the noisier element with tact and common sense, and the whole affair struck me as a great triumph for Mr Holland, and proved that, while the Dunedin audience likes a little noise, it can, at least, be fair. I wish you had reported Mr Holland in full, and would like to hear the opinion of some leading citizens who were present at the meeting.—l am, etc., Central Ward.
