TWO LINERS LEAVE VISITS TO NEW ZEALAND (From Our Own Correspondent) (By Air Mail) LONDON, Jan. 26. With more than 300 passengers each, two liners recently, left America on world cruises which include calls at New Zealand ports. The 20,000-ton Cunarder Franconia, which has visited New Zealand previously, has a very satisfactory complement of passengers. The majority are Americans, but a number of English passengers travelled in the vessel from Southampton to New York to make the cruise. The passengers include Baroness Maria von Waldenburg, Mr J. S. Mercer, K.C, Sheriff of Lanarkshire, and the Rev. W. A. Constable and the Rev. Wilna L, Constable; formerly of the Unitarian Church in Auckland. Information is not'available in England, however, as to how far the passengers are travelling by the vessel. The cruise director is Mr Ross H. Skinner, who has been with the Franconia ever since she started her world cruises ten years ago. Mr C. C. Batchelder, a well-known and widely travelled speaker, who has previously visited New Zealand, is making the trip as lecturer. According to the latest itinerary of the Franconia, her route from New York is Port of Spain, Bahia, Rio da Janeiro, St. Helena, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban. Diego Suarez, Seychelles, Bombay. Colombo, Penang, Singapore, Paknam, Tourane, Manila, Batavia; Samarang, Bali, Kalabahai. Amboina, Port Moresby, Sydney. Hobart (April 19), George Sound and Milford Sound (April 22), Wellington (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 24), Auckland (8 a.m. April 26 to 7 p.m. April 28), Suva, Honolulu, San Pedro, Balboa, Cristobal, and New York, which will be reached on June 3.

A considerable proportion of the tourists in the Canadian Pacific Steamship’s 42,350-ton line! 1 Empress of Britain are also Americans, but many English and European travellers joined the vessel on January 22 at Monaco. There are a number of notable passengers, but information is not available in England as to how far certain of them will be travelling with the vessel.

Those known to be going. to New Zealand include H.S.H. Princess Della Torre e Tasso and her stepsons, H.S.H. Prince Louis Della Torre e Tasso and H.S.H. Prince Raymond Della Torre e Tasso, members of the Italian branch of an Austrian family. Lord and Lady Tennyson, who will be joining the vessel at Colombo at the conclusion of Lord Tennyson’s tour of India, Marchesa Olive Perkins D’Amico, Dr D. G. Hall F.R.C.P.. and Mrs Hall, Mr .A. C Maclean, until recently managing director of Maclean’s, Limited, manufacturing chemists, Mr G. H. Whigham and Mrs Whigham, well known in English society, arid Professor J. Worm-Muller, 6f Denmark. Passengers making some part of the tour by the vessel include H.R.H. Prince Andrew of Greece (who will not be going as far as New Zealand), Sir Montague Burton, head of the large English clothing firm, and Lady Burton, Baroness F. Sybil Carbonelli, .Mrs B. Goodyear and Miss F. Goodyear, and Baron Paul Hatvany and Baroness Hatvany. From Monaco the Empress qf Britain proceeded to Naples, Athens, arid Haifa, and her itinerary includes calls at Port Said, Suez, Bombay, Colombo, Penang. Singapore, Bangkok, Hongkong. Manila. Tandjong Priok, Bali, Sydney, Melbourne (depart April-6), Wellington (April 10), Auckland. (April 12 to 15), Suva, Honolulu, San, f Francisco. Los Angeles. Balboa. Cristobal, New York, and Southampton, which will be reached on May 24.
