QUESTION OF COMPANY LAW In the Supreme Court yesterday Mr Justice Kennedy heard legal argument concerning the liquidation of the Bristol Piano Company, Ltd. The question discussed was whether the preference shareholders were entitled to\ arrears of the preferential dividend, which the company was unable to pay in the few years before it went into liquidation. The court was asked for a declaration, since the two articles in the company’s articles of association dealing with the rights of preference and ordinary shareholders were in conflict on that point. Mr H. Brash appeared for the liquidators, Mr F. B. Adams for the preference shareholders, and Mr H. L. Cook for the ordinary shareholders. Decision was rosarveS.
