THE MELLON CASE
CLAIM FOR TAXATION UPHELD BY BOARD WASHINGTON, Dec. 7. The Board of Tax Appeals absolve the late Mr Andrew Mellon from a charge of having filed a false and fraudulent tax return, but upheld part of the Government’s claim. The claims were fixed at approximately £600,000 dollars, compared with an excess of 3,000,000 dollars originally assessed.
