DEPICTION IN FILMS DECISION OF CONFERENCE LONDON, Dec. 6. After a questionnaire by the British Board of Film Censors the Cinema Christian Council and the Public Morality Council held a conference under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Southwick and decided that Biblical stories in films should be told in Biblical or congruous language. The film censors will not depart from the principle of not certifying for exhibition any representation of the figure of Christ. Some members favoured the representation of Christ in films suitable for exhibition in churches and produced under religious auspices. The introduction of the voice of Christ could not necessarily be ruled out, provided the words were those used in the Gospels, it was stated.
