OFFICIAL FORECAST ... CLOUDY TO OVERCAST The following is the official weather forecast:™ A shallow cyclone is centred to-day to the north-west of Cape Maria, and pressure is low also over the greater oortion of the Tasman Sea and Southeastern Australia. Indications are for:— Winds.—Northerly to easterly over the North Island, and-easterly to southeasterly in the South, force light to moderate mainly but strong at times in the far north'and later freshening generally. -' ", Seas.—New Zealand Waters: Rough north of .East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate but rising, between Cook Strait and East Cape. Misty rain with a fresh north-east wind was experienced continuously during the day. The maximum temperature Was 74 degrees. The barometric pressure fell slowly, the 5 p.m. reading being 29.76 inches. WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. Although the sky was cloudy it was a warm day, with a light north-westerly wind which changed to the south about 3.30 p.m. The minimum temperature last night was 57.2 degrees, and the maximum to-day 70.2 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer reading was 29.97 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 7. The weather was fine but overcast in Christchurch to-day. A moderate south-west wind was blowing in the morning and a light north-east breeze in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 61.7 degrees. The barometer was steady, the 5 p.m. reading being 30.00 inches.
