CONCILIATION COUNCIL

CEMENT WORKERS’ DISPUTE The industrial dispute between the Otago and Southland Lime and Cement Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers and the Milburn Lime and Cement Company, Ltd., which was adjourned from August 31, was continued before the conciliation commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) yesterday. The employers’ assessors were Messrs W. W. Mackersey, D. E. Davidson, P. Evans, and A. S. Cookson. The workers’ assessors were Messrs R. Hayward, G Mawhmney, G. McDonald, and J. Robinson; A settlement was reached on all matters except wages, the employers finally making an offer which will be considered by the union. If not accepted, the matter will be referred to the Arbitration Court.
