LINCOLN COLLEGE

A SUBSTANTIAL GRANT ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGE (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. Advice that the Government has agreed to provide financial assistance amounting in all to £26,000 to Canterbury Agricultural College, at Lincoln, has been received by Mr H. S. S. Kyle, the member for Riccarton and a member of the board of Governors of the college, from the Minister of Agricultutre, Mr W. Lee Martin. A grant towards this end will be placed on the Supplementary Estimates to be brought down in the House of Representatives before the adjournment this year. ( It is expected that legislation will also be brought down before the adjournment providing for the joint administration by a new authority of the two agricultural colleges, Lincoln and Massey, a change which the present controlling authorities have agreed to. It is stated that under the new scheme the existing boards of governors of the two colleges will retain their identity. Lincoln College will be placed on the same financial footing so far as the Government is concerned as Massey College.
