BENEFIT CONCERT

MERRYMAKERS' PARTY ENTERTAINS Before a fairly large attendance in the Burns Hall last night, the Merrymakers' Concert Party under the direction of Mr H. O. Solomon, gave a benefit entertainment that was greatly enjoyed. The programme was a lengthy one, and the organiser had introduced plenty of variety in arranging it. The programme was as follows: Musical items, Mr J. Hutton and party; tap dance, Miss Gwen Collie; song, " It's a Sin to Tell a Lie," Mrs Magon; novelty mouth organ selection, Mr George Silver; recitation, Miss Reid; musical saw selection, Mr W. Carey; humorous numbers, Mr Jack Doyle; novelty items, the Stewart family; musical numbers the Merrymakers' Trio (Messrs G. King, T. Mawer, and E. King); dance, Miss Gwen Wilson; song, Miss Thorn; song, Mr A. Warren; sword dance, Miss Nancy Johnston; humorous song, Mr J. Gordon; ventriloquism, Mr Eggers; song, Mrs Burnard; musical numbers, Mr Tyrie and party; clarinet and guitar duet, Messrs Tyrie and Currier; action song, Miss Edna Hay; recitation, Miss Sanderson.

During the evening Mr Solomon made an appeal for funds to provide Christmas gifts for the inmates of Talboys Home. A vote of thanks was accorded all those who had assisted to make the concert such a success.
