RIFLE SHOOTING
DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club completed the competition for prizes presented by the president (Mr W. Bannerman) on Saturday afternoon. There was an attendance of 22, and seven shots (two optional sighters) each were fired at 500 and 600 yards. The weather was fine, and shooting conditions favourable. The highest scores at 500 yards were 34 each made by G, H. Smith, C. A. McNish. R. Leslie, jun., and O. G. Miller, in the order named. C. Gamble was ton at 600 yards with 35 (the possible), T. A. Graham being next with 33. C. Gamble headed the ; clay's aggregate with 68. The following were the highest scores and aggregates:—

Smith 130. A. W. Cooper 130. WEST TAIERI CLUB There was only a small muster on the West Taieri Defence Rifle Club's range on Saturday afternoon for the commencement of No. 3 Competition. The conditions were 10 shots at 500 and 600 yards. D. Ashley secured a dossible at 500 yards, and, with W Brookes, a 46 at 600 yards. The following were the scores:—
