Trotting Association A meeting of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Friday. The Press The West Australian Trotting Association recently admitted the press into an inquiry held in connection with a horse's running. Real the Great Mr J. Richardson has purchased the imported mare Real the Great, who is in foal to Quite Sure. Real the Great was got by Caduceus the Great, a son of Peter the Great. Escapade, the dam of Intrigue, was got by Nelson Bingen —Country Belle, by Wildmoor. Francisco The fact that Francisco started favourite at Ashburton shows that the stable has not lost confidence in her ability to travel. She has been doubt, ful at the barrier, and apparently an improvement has been -*v*M.kc;! in her manners. "*""""*> A Good Producer > The brood mare Kewpie has produced a colt foal to Peter Bingen, this being her tenth offspring. Of seven to race, five have proved good winners, namely, Kewpie's Guy, Kewpie's King, Kewpie's Crest, Kewpie's Triumph, and Kewpie's Bond. The two-year-old by Jewel Pointer from Kewpie has been sold by J. Gee to a patron of F. J. Smith's stable. Cressy has purchased an unnamed maiden trotter by Guy Carbine from Reta's" Vivian, by Petereta. Guy Carbine was got by Guy Parrish from Miss Carbine, by El Carbine from Miss Vivian, the dam of Reta's Vivian. Measured by Money The success of a meeting is too frequently measured by money and not by the quality of the sport provided. Fields were on the small side in some cases at Forbury Park last week, and hence did not create an incentive to bet.

Improvements Some of the winners at Forbury Park stepped well inside their handicap marks. The following shows handicaps and improvements:—
