MANIA FOR CARS
ONE HUNDRED CONVERSIONS ALLEGED TWO YOUTHS BEFORE COURT (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. Arrested late on Saturday night, two brothers—Leslie Archie Morris, aged 17, and Arthur Henry Morns, aged 19, were charged at. Wellington before Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M., to-day with the unlawful conversion of a sports car valued at £2OO belonging to Richard Ford SwGGtZGr. It was stated that the youths had confessed to the conversion of 100 cars within the last six months, the total value being about £20,000. A number had been put over banks and considerably damaged. In addition, a quantity of valuable property left in the cars was missing. It was not suggested that the accused stole the property, the police said. Apparently the method of the accused was' to take two cars and run them into one another, or else push them over banks. A remand was granted until December 6 for further inquiries. Suppression of the names was refused, and bail in the sum of £l5O each was fixed.
