OFFICIAL FORECAST OUTLOOK IMPROVING The following is the official weather forecast:— A series of rather intense secondary depressions has continued to pass in the south, but the last of the series is now approaching The anti-cyclone over south-eastern Australia is now advancing on to the Tasman Sea. Indications are for: — Winds.—Moderate to strong, southwesterly to southerly, and reaching gale force in places. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds, with rougn seas, but conditions gradually moderating. Weather Still squally and changeable, with intermittent, and in places heavy rain, some scattered hail showers being probable, more especially in eastern and southern districts, but improving soon on the West Coast of the South Island; temperatures cold. A strong west-south-west wind with driving rain squalls was experienced during the day. The skies were overcast, with occasional sunshine. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees. The barometer pressure fell in the morning, but recovered, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.85 inches. WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. Rain fell during the morning, and there was a squally north-westerly wind, which decreased in the afternoon, when there was a brief period of sunshine. At 3.50 p.m. the wind turned to the south, and heavy rain again set in. The minimum temperature last night was 53.2 degrees, and the maximum to-day was 60.0. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 29.56 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 19. The weather in the morning was squally, with a strong wind from the south-west and heavy showers.
