LIQUOR PRIVILEGES AT FORBURY PARK

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I understand that the proprietor of the booth at Forbury Park Trotting grounds has been instructed by the Licensing Committee that no women shall be served with liquor nor allowed on the premises. If that is correct, will you please give the names of the members of the South Dunedin Licensing Committee and the “ ticket ” they represent?—l am. etc., A Member. [One of the long-standing conditions attached to the licence to sell liquor at the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meetings is that no woman shall be supplied with liquor. A practice which has been observed in this respect, also over a long period, is regarded in some quarters as an evasion of this condition and we understand attention is now being directed to the matter. The Licensing Committee consists of Messrs J. R. Bartholomew (chairman) J. Adam, A. R. Edgar. E. Longworth. J. J. Marlow, and H. A. Newall, The committee is regarded as representative of the “ Moderate Party.”—Ed. O.D.T.]
