SUNDAY SERVICES

Mr Harold Turner, M.A., will conduct both services in .Knox Church tomorrow. His evening subject will b<- “ What Are We Waiting For? At First Church to-morrow the Rev. W Allen Stevely’s morning subject will be “Burning and Shining, and the evening subject, “ More Than Conauerors ” In the evening, in celebration of the centenary of the juvenile Rechabite movement, a parade of the local juvenile tents will be hold. Th£ choir, under the direction of. Dr V. E. Galway, will sing a selection from Handel’s oratorio, “Judas Maccabeus. The soloists will be Miss Ivy Parker, Mrs C M. Barnett, Mr Alfred Walmsley, and Mr E. W. Snow. At the Salvation Army at 11 a.m. Adjutant Victor Dick will speak on “The Empowering Messenger.’ At 3 p.m. there'will be a praise and testimony service. Adjutant A. Fletcher will speak on “ The Open Fountain at 7 p.m., when the Songster Brigade will sing the anthem “ Just As I Am ’ under the direction of Bro. W. Bayhs. The band, under Bandmaster A. Millard will play the selection “Waiting, Pleading, Knocking.” Young people's meetings will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. by Y.P.S.M. Mrs Lemin. At the Greater World Christian Spiritual Mission the service will be taken by Mr T. Anderson, of Port Chalmers, who will speak on “ Visions,’ and will give true experiences. The Rev. G. Brooks will give clairvoyance, and the healing and prayer circle will follow. „ . “ To Him That Hath ” and “ The Need of the Hour ’’ will be the morning and evening subjects respectively at the Trinity Methodist Church, the Rev. C. H Olds being the preacher. In the morning Miss June Holmes will sing “From Day to Day.” The evening anthem will be “ The Day Thou Gavest,” and Miss I. Bain will sing “Beside Still Waters.” Missioner D. I. Robertson will conduct both services at Glenavon, his evening subject being “Can a Man be Profitable Unto God? ” At Woodhaugh, Mr A. Ganderton will preach in the morning, and a Bible class service will be held in the evening.

To-morrow the Methodist Central Mission will be celebrating its Sunday School anniversary. In the morning at 11 o’clock the Rev. Hugh Graham, of Mosgiel, /ill conduct the service, at 2.45 p.m.. in the Stuart Street -Sunday School Hall, the Rev. D. C. Williams will give an address to the Sunday school scholars and parents, and at 6.30 in the Octagon Hall, the service will be conducted by the young people of the Mission and the Revs. L. B. Neale and B. M. Tasker.

At the Congregational Church, Moray place, to-morrow, the Rev. Albert Mead’s subject in the morning will be “Autumnal Life,” and in the evening, “ Nursery Rhymes in Religious Life— 1 Hey Diddle Diddle.’” The anthem at the evening service will be “ I Will Call Upon the Lord.” The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct to-morrow’s services at the United Congregational Church, Albany street. In the morning he will take as his subject “Wonderful Treasure, and in the evening, “Who Can Dwell With God? ” .. At the Theosophical Society the young Theosophists will cohclude their talks on “ Simple Theosophy ” by answering questions regarding emotions, thoughts, and sleep. . At St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church the Rev. Thomas Miller will be the preacher at the morning and evening services. In the morning service his subject will be “Hospitality Without Grudging,” and Miss Mary Miller will sing a solo. In the evening service the subject will be “ Enjoying God.” The services at the Hanover Street Baptist Church will be conducted by the Rev. J. Ewen Simpson, who will speak in the morning on “Joseph.’ and in the evening on “The Inevitable Exposure.” In the evening the choir will present the hymn-study “Where He Leads Me,” and the anthem “ I Am Alpha.” The services at the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church to-morrow will be conducted by the Rev. A. C. W. Standage, the subjects being “God Going Before Us ” and “ Citizens of Heaven.” At the Spiritualist Church, Radiant Hall, Mr R. N. Ridd will be the speaker his subject being “In All Things Give Thanks,” after which clairvoyant messages will be given by a woman medium. The Healing Centre will meet on Monday at 8 o’clock.
