IMMORTAL LOVE STORY
SIMONE SIMON STARRED One of the tenderest romances of the time is brought to the screen in “Seventh Heaven,” the Twentieth Century-Fox production of Austin Strong’s immortal love story, which will be shown at the State Theatre to-day, with Simone Simon and James Stewart in the starring roles Adapted from the stage play produced and directed by John Golden. “ Seventh Heaven ” recreates for screen audiences the famous lovers of Montmartre, Diane and Chico As the little street waif, Diane, Simone Simon surpasses all hopes expressed feu this sensational French screen find and she emet’ge? gloriously as one of the screen’s newest and greatest stars Opposite her is James Stewart, as Chico of the valiant spirit and the shy yearning love Montmarte, most colourful and exciting of all sections of Paris, serves as the background of “ Seventh Heaven,” a background rich in picturesque settings and characters.
IMPORTANT FILM CONTRACT * AMALGAMATED THEATRES’ DEAL An important film deal has just been completed in Auckland between R.K.O Radio Pictures and Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd (the proprietors ot the local State and Grand Theatres) by which Amalgamated Theatres throughout the Dominion will screen the output of the R.K.O Radio Studios during 1938 In addition to the impressive list of major features which appears on the producing company’s schedule for the coming year the deal calls for the definite first release in all cities and provincial centres of Walt Disney’s well-known coloured cartoons, “ Mickey the Mouse ” and " Silly Symphonies,” and also the popular “ March Vf Time ” series. The “ Mickey the Mouse ’’ and the “ Silly Symphonies ” series will be Disney’s first under his new contract with R.K.0., and in these he intends to give more attention to detail and more lavish production than ever before, to make them individual " little features.” The first picture under the new agreement is expected to have its Dunedin release early in the New Year
