MEETING OF BOARD V The monthly meeting last evening of the Otago Harbour Board was at*'tended by Messrs W. Begg (chairman)/ J. B. Waters, R. Duncan, D. Copland/. F. E. Tyson, D. F. H. Sharpe, A. Camp-p bell, M.P., T. Scollay, A. Smith, Preston, and R. Harrison. , GRANTS The board decided to make a grant, of £3 3s to the specialised boys’ worjc, of the Y.M.C.A. £ In response to the request of the- J joint council of the St. John and New Zealand Red Cross Society, it wagt decided to make a grant of £lO 10s, to the fund for the relief of distress and for the care of sick and wounded, in China. CORRESPONDENCE In reply to the Anderson's Bay Ratef . payers’ Association, it was stated that' the Minister had promised that favourable consideration would be given ? to the question of a grant from the Employment Fund for the provision, of a playing ground at the inlet. The' secretary reported that he had written to the association asking the nature of" the scheme and for information re-'i garding the manner in which it was,' proposed to finance it. In this connect tion, his letter to the Anderson’s Bay; Association referred to his last letter,,., in which it was pointed out that the; board had no liability to reclaim the 1 area and that until some proposal was' placed before it whereby the cost of f the work was to be recouped by the,, board, it was regretted that no furtheraction could be taken. It was, therq Tl ; fore, necessary that the detailed proposals should not involve the board’s funds, and should be submitted if the; matter were to receive the serious sideration of the board. WATERSIDE WORKERS’ ACCOMMODATION • The question of accommodation foi;>the waterside workers at Port Chal-g mers was further discussed, and it decided that the engineer should re.- ' port on proposals for the extension of the building on the present site.' ~ ANNUAL SUPPLIES Tenders for annual supplies were accepted as follows: — , Motor Spirit.—The Vacuum Oil Cora-i ’ pany for the pilot and lightkeeper’slaunches, the remainder of the supplies', to be drawn between the Shell, Texas;and Associated Motorists’ Companies.
