TRAFFIC IN ARMS
BRITISH TRADER FINED CONSIGNMENT FORFEITED GIBRALTAR, Nov. 17. Herbert Louis Barton, a British trader, was fined £2O for the unlawful importation of arms, and £2O for attempting to export them to Spain. The consignment was forfeited. A message received on November 5 stated: The British police on the frontier stopped a mule van which was proceeding to Lalinea laden with packing cases labelled “ merchandise.” They were found to contain rifles and ammunition intended for Genera] Franco.
