Mahon president ol the Auckland University College, following a meeting of the College Conn cil The meeting authorised Mi Mahon and Mr A H Johnstone (vicepresident) to wait on the Minister ol Education (Mr P Fraser) with a request for a grant of £4658 for immediate requirements and for an additional annual sum of £905 ‘These are necessary works, and cannot be provided out of the resources of the council " Mr Mahon continued ' Reports we have received show how straitened the finances of the college are. It is impossible to provide even for certain well-deserved increases in salaries.”
