DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB
The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs L. C. Hazlett (chairman), F. Tyson, W J. Coughlan, L. Potter, B. S. Irwin, A. N. Smith, J. A. Mathewson. Dr Batchelor, and Dr Ross. The draft programme submitted by the Programme Committee for the summer meeting was approved. The programme provides for stakes to the value of £1590 for the first day and £1415 for the second day. It was resolved to close nominations on December 10, and to start each day's racing at 12 noon. The question of providing cups or trophies out of the legacy left to the club by the late Mr J. B. Reid was held over. The Works Committee reported that part of the main race track had been top-dressed with river silt, and that to date about 250 yards of silt had been applied since the spring meeting. The Track Committee reported that the top-dressing, with silt, had been of great value, and that the course proper was now in excellent condition. , ± , , Two new members were elected, and other business of a routine nature was transacted.
