SOUTH DUNEDIN BAPTISTS
JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS In continuation of the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the South Dunedin Baptist Church, a social evening was held last night, when several speakers related the progress of the church since the early days to a very large attendance. The Rev. H R Turner was in the chair. Reminiscences of theii associations with the church over a long period were given by Messrs W. Ash ton. G Wix J. Bond, A. Ockwell, F Broadbent E. Carter, D. Robb, Mrs Turner. Mrs Welsh, and Miss L. Ings. Each of the speakers referred to the pleasant friendships which had been formed at the church, and a number of humorous episodes were recalled which the gathering fully appreciated Congratulatory messages from the North-East Valley Baptists were conveyed to the meeting by the Rev J Re'id, and Mr Andrew Johnston, the blind evangelist, also congratulated the church on the successful nature of the celebrations. Musical items were rendered during the evening as follows:—Solo, Mrs A. L. Scott; recitation. Miss Olga Johnston; and the choir, under the conductorship of Mr C. J. Darracott. was heard in the numbers "He That Dwelleth," "From Every Stormy Wind," "Gloria in Excelsis," "Trees," and "I Am Alpha and Omega."
