CHARCOAL BURNING
DECLINE IN ENGLAND EFFORTS TO REVIVE CRAFT (British Official Wireless) ' RUGBY, Oct. 26. (Received Oct. 27, at 5.5 p.m.) Efforts are being made, to revive the skilled craft of charcoal-burning in England. It is a highly-skilled occupation, which v/as formerly much practised in the English countryside, and has declined owing to competition from foreign imports and other causes, but the steadilygrowing industrial demand for charcoal, some of which is due to the Government's rearmament programme, has given an impetus to the movement for the re-establish-ing of home production.
