RUGBY FOOTBALL
AUSTRALIAN TOUR CANCELLED NEW ZEALAND UNION'S DECISION SYDNEY, Oct. 27. (Received Oct. 28, at 1.30 a.m.) Following an announcement from New Zealand that the Rugby Union was not sending a team to Australia next year, which caused surprise and disappointment here, it was stated to-day that the New South Wales Union has a written agreement with the New Zealand Union committing the latter to sending a team next year. Whether the New South Wales Union will press for observance of the agreement will depend on the reasons advanced for can : cellation. Mr J. Noseda, the secretary, said: "We are all very disappointed. Maybe the New Zealand Union has very good reasons for its action. On the other hand, if the New Zealand tour must be'put off until 1939, it will have to be early in that year, as the Australian team for abroad must be selected before the end of June."
