AN ARMED HOLD-UP COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE (Pick United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 27. The sequel to the armed hold-up of a taxi driver at the Esplanade last week was heard in the Magistrate's Court when Eric Clark, a station hand, and Ber 1 Karapa, a farm labourer, both aged 17. were charged that armed with an automatic pistol they robbed Thomas Seel of two guineas. They were also charged with stealing at Fernhill a pistol, fountain pen, and £7 from a farmer. Both were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. The accused in statements to the police, detailed how masks were purchased for the purpose of robbing people and rubber gloves bought in order to leave no fingerprints on a dairy which they had intended to ■ rob. It was planned that one of them should knock the taxi driver on the head, but this was not resorted to.
