UNEMPLOYED WORKERS

CONCERT FOR RELIEF OF DISTRESS A pleasing concert, sponsored by the National Unemployed Workers' Movement was held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Sunday last. The programme was supplied by Mr H. O. Solomon's Merrymakers. There was a fair attendance, and the proceeds of this and the previous concert will be devoted entirely towards the relief of distress at the festive season. The following items were given:—Mr Hutton and party. Hawaiian guitars: character sketch. Miss M. Sanderson. "Bead Seller": Mr Goyen, song, •' When the Sergeant-major's on Parade' - and "Good-bye" from "The White Horse Inn"; Scottish selections on the accordion, " Uncle Bon "; Miss M. Reid. elocutionary item, "The Little Scottish Martyrs"; novelty items in costume, the Stewart family, "There's a Bridle Hanging on the Wall" and "The Sunset Trail"; Mrs Magan, song.

God Send You Back to Me" and " Let's Grow Old Together"; tap dances, Miss Gwenneth Collie: Mr I Warren, song, "Arise, O Sun"; Miss C. E. Thorne, song, "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie"; Miss Nancv Johnson. Highland dances: Mr G. Silver, novelty items; Miss Edna Hay. recitation " Misery Jane." At the conclusion of a very fine pro* gramme, Cr Mark Silverstone. who is president of the movement, (hanked those who had contributed to the programme, and a motion of thanks was carried bv acclamation.
