CRICKET IN ENGLAND
WARWICKSHIRE CLUB THE CHANGE OF CAPTAINCY LONDON, Oct. 25. The Warwickshire County Cricket Club passed a resolution of appreciation of R. E. Wyatt's services, but it was decided that a change in the captaincy was advisable, and invited P. Cranmer to accept for 1938. " I consider Wyatt the second best bat in England. If he plays for Surrey, for which he has birth qualifications, he will be that county's gain," said Mr Leveson Gower. Sir Charles Hyde, president of the Warwickshire Club, said: " I will be very sorry if Wyatt does not play for us in 1938. There is no friction between him and the committee, but I felt that the team had got into a groove. The breezy personality of Cranmer, who has often captained in Wyatt's absence, and who is also an international Rugby player and an Oxford Blue, should ginger up the team." Wyatt's mother said: Bob has been very hurt. He has done a lot for Warwickshire. He has not mentioned becoming a professional." Wyatt refused to comment, as he said he might be misunderstood.
