SUEZ CANAL TRAFFIC The Suez Canal Company report that traffic through the waterway during the first six months of this year amounted to 18.5-10,000 tons net, which constitutes a record, and is 15.8 per cent, more than last year, when there was an abnormal traffic due to Italian ships returning from Massowah and Mogadiscio. U.S. SHIPPING LEGISLATION The United States Senate has just passed a number of Bills relating to shipping. Foremost of these measures Is the Copcland Bill adopting regulations for preventing collisions at sea. • These rules are substantially those contained In Annex 11, as amended, of the Convention for Promoting Safety of Life at Sea, signed In London in 1929 and proclaimed by President Roosevelt last year.
