THE RUGBY GAME
ADMINISTRATIVE AND PLAYING SIDES DISCUSSED BY DOMINION COUNCIL SPECIAL REPORTS TO BE PREPARED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. Rugby football in New Zealand is to be the subject of special reports covering both the administrative and playing.sides of the game. The question of the standard of play as well as such matters as the methods of selection, playing trials, etc., arose during a meeting in Wellington of the New Zealand Rugby Football Council, and it .was as a result of the discussion at that meeting that the decision was made to have special reports furnished. It was decided that the following sub-committees be set up to report to the next meeting:—
Playing Aspect: Messrs E. McKenzie (convener), R. T. Meredith, A. A. Adams, W. J. Wallace and J. T. Burrows. Administrative Aspect (including trials and selections): Messrs S. S. Dean (convener), J. Prendeville, Douglas M. Spedding, R. T. Meredith and F. T. Glasgow. It was reported by Mr Adams, a member of the New Zealand Selection Committee, that the selectors intended to furnish a report. The decision was also made that all unions be invited to report on the playing of the game in their districts. A special committee, Ncomprising Messrs Dean, Maddison, Prendeville and Adams, was appointed to report on all the aspects of primary and postprimary school football. , A TOUR BY JAPANESE PROPOSAL ABANDONED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. The New Zealand Rugby Union has received from the University Rugby Council a letter stating that, owing to the disturbed state, of affairs in the Far East, it does not wish to proceed with its application for permission to invite a Japanese team to New Zealand.
