TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel Corrected Handicaps In the handicaps for the Invercargill trotting meeting Silver Guy’s correct mark is 60 yards behind in the Cup and 72 in the Members’ Handicap. Had Every Chance Eastern Prince, who was fancied for the Electric Handicap at Oamaru had every chance. He was one of the leaders when the field swept past the post the first time, but began to drift when the pace was crowded on for the run home. Looked Well Lucky Jack looked particularly well when produced for the Weston Handicap at Oamaru oft Monday, and promises to be at the peak of his form for the New Zealand Cup. He is far from being neglected in ante-post discussions. R. Berry, his trainer, is at present indisposed, and could not attend the Oamaru meeting. Did Not Finish Well Glenrossie, showed speed in the Weston Handicap on Monday, but did not finish well. He will have to improve a lot to have a chance in the New Zealand Cup. Too Liable to Break Axiom has a fine turn of speed but is too liable to break to be a good proposition to follow. A Solid Type Listowel is a solid type of trotter by Wrack from Forest Lass. He trotted two good races at Oamaru, winning

one very easily, and being just topped off by Helen's Bay. By Man o* War Marsceres paced well in the Redcastle Handicap at Oamaru and gave every indication of being an early winner. Being by Man o' War. age will do a lot for him. Looked Well Superior Rank looked exceptionally well at Oamaru and it will not be surprising if he soon returns to the list of winners. Out of Form Coherto did not shape well at Oamaru and has apparently lost the form he showed earlier in his career. He is now trained at Christchurch by W. Crookston. Fancied at Oamaru

Ace High was fancied for the Trial Handicap at Oamaru, but lost his chance at the start. He is a five-year-old by Jack Potts from Nessie, and M B. Edwards should win good races with him. Needs Soft Track

Red Shadow, the star of J. Bryce's Hornby stable, is in great heart at present, but from 48yds behind he is set a stiff task in the New Zealand Trotting Cup (says the Star-Sun). If he is lucky enough to strike a soft track many will favour his chance of repeating his success of 1933, but with firm going his chance of giving starts to improving horses does not look good Shaping Well Two bay two-year-old colts, both by Red Shadow, are shaping well in work One is from Mignon and the other from a mare by Maxegin from Muricata. The colt which claims Muricata as his grand-dam is highly regarded by his trainer Both are well grown Ready for Addington Waikato Prince, a double winner at Addington in August among the trotters, should win his share again at the Cup meeting. At the recent New

Brighton meeting he was tried among the pacers in the Avon Handicap, but spoiled his chance by breaking early. He settled down and showed a lot of speed. The race has done him good and he will strip a very fit horse next month.
