OFFICIAL FORECAST CHANGEABLE AND SQUALLY The following is the official weather fftf* APRS l ****"" ** A shallow depression is passing eastward off the northern portion of the North Island, and another and rather intense one is crossing the South Island. An intense anti-cyclone is advancing from south-eastern Australia on to the Tasman Sea. Indications are for:— • Winds.— North-westerly to northerly at first about Cook Strait, otherwise south-westerly prevailing r moderate to strong generally, and reaching gale force at some exposed positions. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rather rough to rough at times in most places Eastern Tasman Sea: South-west to southerly winds, moderate in the northern portion, with moderate seas, and strong to gale force in parts of the southern portion, with rather rough to rough seas. Weather.—Changeable and rather squally, with showers in most tncts; temperatures cold, and hail probable in parte of coastal areas of the South Island, and snow on some of the ranges. • WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The weather yesterday was calm and dull, and heavy rain fell early in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 53 degrees, but for the greater uart of the day conditions were cold. The barometer fell to 29.71 inches, but rose sharply to 29.95 by midnight.
