PAN-AMERICAN AIRWAYS
FOUR MORE STAFF MEMBERS ARRIVE CONSTRUCTION OF AUCKLAND BASE (Special to Dailv Times) AUCKLAND, Oct. 26. Four members of the staff of PanAmerican Airways will arrive at Auckland on Friday by the Mariposa. They •are Mr F. McKenzie, Pacific division airport engineer; Mr A. L. Lewis, who is to be airport manager at Auckland and Messrs M. M. Thomson and B L Dooge the nucleus of the staff for Mr Lewis. In addition to Mr H. Gatty the special representative of PanAmerican Airways in New Zealand and Australia there are already in Auckland Messrs A. L. Charman (radio expert) and E. B Buxton (meteorologist) The floating gangway for use at the base in Mechanics' Bay is already under construction, and a considerable amount of equipment for use at the Auckland base has arrived from the United States. An early start is expected to be made with the construction of the airport buildings in Mechanics' Bay. An effort will be made to have the, base ready by the time the next survey flight is made.
