SHIP DESTROYED BY FIRE TWENTY-SIX PEOPLE MISSING WARSHIP RACES TO SCENE (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) HONGKONG, Oct. 25. (Received Oct. 25, at II p.m.) The British steamer Kaitangata was destroyed by fire in the South China Sea, between Hongkong and Hainan Island. The vessel sent a wireless message stating that the passengers and crew jumped overboard. H.M.S. Thracian set out *at full speed from Hongkong and found the Kaitangata burning from stem to stern. The master, four British officers and 13 Chinese sailors have been rescued. Twenty-six are missing.
