A request for £1875 has been made to his Excellency the Governor of Burma in a petition by the Third Brincess of Burma, the daughter of Thibaw, the last reigning king. The sum, she states, is w -u the Buddhist religious ear-boring ceremony of her 12-year-old daughter, Princess Rita, in a manner befitting the status of the grand-daughter of his late Majesty King Thibaw. The petition declares that when the ear-bonng ceremony of the third Princess herself and her three sisters was performed at Ratnagiri in India, the Government of India very kindly granted an allowance of about £7500 for the purpose.
