WAIMATE TOURNAMENT CONCLUSION OF FIXTURE SINGLES WON BY MISS MILLER AND ANGAS (Special to Daily Times) WAIMATE, Oct. 25. The Waimate Tennis Club’s jubilee tournament concluded to-day in fine but cloudy weather. There was a larger attendance to witness the finals of the various events. The final of the Men’s Singles Championship between C. Angas and H. A. Barnett was noted for long, interesting rallies. Angas secured his win without being fully extended, his courtcraft enabling him to conquer his opponent’s powers, of recovery. Miss D. Miller played a steadier game than her opponent to win the Women’s Singles Championship. Many long tallies characterised the play. In the Men’s Doubles final, in which C. Angas and H. A. Barnett beat R. G. Pattinson and I. J. Corich, the game was more even than indicated by the scores. The play was noteworthy for the fine performance of Pattinson, whose returns from difficult angles were sometimes amazing. The final of the Women’s Doubles, in which Misses T. and I. Poole beat Mrs C. J. Rawlinson and Miss R. Wilson, pi’ovided another instance where the pairs on their play were more evenly matched than the scores indicated.
