OFFICIAL FORECAST UNSETTLED CONDITIONS The following is the official weather forecast;— A rather shallow cyclonic depression was crossing the North Island yesterday, and another and somewhat deeper one should be crossing the South Island. A slight westerly depression also covers south-eastern Australia. Indications are for:— Winds.—Moderate westerlies north of Auckland: elsewhere moderate to Strong, south-east to north-east prevailing at first, but westerly to southwesterly becoming general, and strong to gale force in places. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough In the Cook Strait area and on the Otago coast: elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising on the West Coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong west to south-west winds and rough aeas. Weather.—Unsettled, with rain at times in most districts, some heavy falls being probable in central provinces; temperatures cool to moderate.
