AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE TEAM - HULL DEFEATED 22—12 (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 6.30 p.m.) The Australian League football team defeated Hull by 22 points to 12. ; The score at half time was 7—5 in favour of Australia. The Hull backs handled splendidly in the opening stages. They reached the Australian twenty-five, where Oliver kicked a goal. Hull won the ball and kept Australia on the defensive but could not penetrate. Australia made spasmodic attacks but fine line-finding drove them back. Excellent play by Norman let Australia away on two occasions and brought the tourists’ score to 7, but Hull scored just on half time. Hull continued to attack in the second spell, but the Australians’ handling improved. They brought several good openings to a successful conclusion. Heavy rain fell before the match, but the sun shone afterwards. INTERNATIONAL MATCH ENGLAND DEFEATS IRELAND (United Press Association) (By ElecMc Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 6.30 p.m.) England defeated Ireland at Association football by 5 goals to 1.
