A NEW MAURETANIA
CUNARD-WHITE STAR LINER CONSTRUCTION AT BIRKENHEAD (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 6.30 p.m.) The new Cunard-White Star liner, which will be launched at the end of next July for the trans-Atlantic service, will be named Mauretania after her famous predecessor. The keel of the new liner, which was constructed at Birkenhead by Cammell Laird, was laid in May and it is believed to be the largest ever built in an English shipyard, as distinct from a Scottish or Irish shipyard.
