BLANKETS IN JAPAN
MADE FROM MIXTURES WOOL AND STAPLE FIBRE TOKIO, Oct. 22. (Received Oct. 22, at 11 p.m.) An inter-departmental conference decided that in future blankets for use by the army and navy and the uniforms of the State railway employees, police and students will be made from mixtures of wool and staple fibre. Regulations are accordingly being promulgated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which aims to economise the use of wool by mixing over 25 per cent, of staple fibre for blankets and woollen fabrics. WOOL REQUIREMENTS TOKIO, Oct. 22. (Received Oct. 23, at 1 a.m.) Japan needs to purchase 105,000 bales of woo] during the remainder of this year. Industrialists recently asked the Government to sanction 150,000, but Mr Yoshino declined. Some companies have seven or eight months' supplies, but others have hardly any.
