The outbreak originated in the workshop of M. A. Wiffen, radio serviceman, and extended to a Chinese laundry at the rear of these premises. A third shop occupied by J. O’Sullivan and Son, bootmakers’, was affected by smoke and water. . A considerable quantity of linen suffered damage in the laundry. The insurances on the buildings, which are owned by the Wensley estate, totalled £SOO in Lloyds and on Wiffen’s stock £175 in the South British office.
