The Star of the South Tent celebrated its twenty-seventh anniversary at the last meeting, when 70 Rechabites and friends were present. Items were presented as follows:—Solo, bister O. Barrie; recitations, Sister Joy Knowles, Bro. N. Orchard and Brp. R. Deason; violin solo, Mr N. Larkins. Sister F. Harman acted as accompanist. The secretary’s annual report showed the membership to be 187, Early in the year Bro. A. E. Harman resigned from the office of secretary and was presented with a pocket watch as a token of the members’ appreciation. Bro. W. J. Bryant has been elected to fill the vacancy and Bro. R. C. Graves has been appointed treasurer. Bro. Graves also holds the position of Provincial Chief Ruler. On their return from the District Council meeting held last Easter, the Dunedin delegates gave a very full report at a combined meeting held in the tent room. The tent congratulated Bro. and Sister A. V. Gam on their re-election as district officers. The district secretary (Bro. W. G. Carpenter, of Wellington), who is an exmember of the Star of the South Tent, recently visited Dunedin and addressed a large gathering at a combined meeting Bro. F. E. Davis. Past District Chief Ruler, was also present. The Juvenile Tent was under Superintendent Sister I. Parker. Bro. J. H. Shilcock is now in charge of the Rising Star Tent. Sister E. Hollow has resigned the charge of Crystal Spring Tent and Bro. A. H. Harman is carrying on the work. During the year Sister Harman and Bro. Bryant received Past Chief Ruler honours. The Tent has purchased a set of indoor bowls, and the members are looking forward to some interesting contests with sister tents. The Hope of Dunedin Tent met on October 11, when P.C.R. Bro. R. W. Watson occupied the chair. Business proceedings were carried out as expeditiously as possible in order to commence the Sports Tournament, which had been arranged. Seven teams of four entered the tournament, and the contest resulted in a close victory for the Sisters Dagger, Sister E. K. Gain and Bro. S. Watson.
