PRACTICAL PSYCHOLOGY CLUB Meets Lake’s Restaurant, Thursday, 8 p.m.; subject, ’’ Dealing with Our Complexes ’’; intending members welcome.

A magistrate in one of the traffic courts at New York City declared he had discovered a “ miracle ” when a taxi-driver offered to pay a fine with a one-dollar note (four shillings) which a policeman had given him for the purpose. The cabby, Mr Benjamin Sturtz, was driving in a busy street near Broadway.. As he neared Broadway a policeman waved to him to turn left to make way for a fire engine coming up behind his cab, Mr Sturtz knew it was an offence to turn left at that point, but did as he was told. Further down the street into which he had turned another policeman stopped him and gave him a summons. While the two were arguing the first policeman approached, and when told a summons had been issued gave the driver a dollar to pay the fine. The magistrate suspended sentence and ordered the taxi-driver “to take the dollar home and frame it.” Mr Sturtz, however, is looking for his benefactor, as *’"} #ants to return tb-» note to him.
