OBITUARY

MR G. E. ROBERTSON (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. A well-known Wellington citizen, Mr George Edmund Robertson, J.P., Consul for Brazil, died suddenly today at the age of 84. Mr Robertson expired suddenly in Molesworth street on his way home.'He founded the Garibaldi Club in Wellington, which is still a popular rendezvous for Italian residents and friends. Assistance to the Italian community brought Mr Robertson a letter of appreciation from the Italian Premier at that time, and shortly afterwards his services were recognised by the late King Umberto, who conferred the distinction of Chevalier of the Order of the Crown of Italy. Mr Robertson contributed regular articles to foreign newspapers. He was a prominent Freemason. He leaves two sons, Messrf Roland and Cecil Robertson, and r daughter, Mrs Jack Nelson.
