MANILA ROCKED
THREE EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS MOST SERIOUS FOR YEARS NO CASUALTIES REPORTED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright) MANILA, Aug. 20. Three earthquake shocks, described as the most serious for years, rocked the city and the surrounding country, and disrupted the telephone and power services in some sections. Walls of buildings cracked and water mains burst. It is believed that there were no casualties. The shocks occurred an hour after the arrival of a ship load of refugees from Shanghai. The earthquakes occurred after the landing of the first American refugees from Shanghai, causing consternation.
