PIGS IN CEMETERY
HEAVY FINE IMPOSED MINIMUM ALLOWED BY LAW (Per United Press Association) WHANGAREI. June 21. For allowing pigs to wander in the Hukerenui South Cemetery, T. J. A. Hutchins was fined a total amount of £2l in the Police Court. All the parties. including the magistrate, agreed that the fine was high, but it was the minimum allowed under the relevant section of the Cemeteries Act. which stipulates that a fine of not less than £1 be imposed for each animal. Fifteen of the pigs were suckers.
