Lust Monday evening a prepared debate was held in (lie Hibernian Club rooms before a fair attendance; Hie subject being “That Government by Party has Failed.' The affirmative team. Messrs A Manion and S E Mce. showed in their arguments that the party element was prejudicial to the interests of good government, and they advocated as an alternative the g> "J system of parliamentary control. The negative contention, led by Mr F Brown and seconded by Mr W M'Alevey, pointed out that party government was synonymous with good government, and that any alternative would tend to a dictatorshin and anarchv Mr R King, who adjudicated in the course of his remarks gave a constructive criticism, and awarded the debate to the affirmative side
